Take Advantage of Your Opponents’ in Transition Like This in Pickleball

Ben Johns (via Pickleball 360) explains how to adjust when opponents rush through the transition zone toward the kitchen without using a split step to plant. Placement becomes more important than raw pace against players who close aggressively without establishing position.

Use the short to practice targeting feet/body or forcing a tough volley while they are still moving.

Action items:

  • Notice whether closers plant (split step) or just run through
  • Prefer placement over pace when they are still moving
  • Drill: feed third/transition balls and punish non-planted approaches
